How Our Anti Snoring Device Works

Our anti snoring device is a custom-made Sleepwell® mandibular advancement splint (MAS). Worn at night, it gently positions your lower jaw slightly forward, helping to keep the airway open and reduce the vibration that causes snoring.

At Aura Dental Sandy, your device is carefully designed from digital scans or impressions of your teeth, ensuring a precise, comfortable fit that allows you to breathe, speak and sip water while wearing it – so you can finally enjoy quieter, more restorative sleep.

Top tips for a healthy smile

Is an Anti Snoring Device Right for You?

If you or your partner are kept awake by snoring, or you’ve been told you may have mild to moderate sleep apnoea, a custom anti snoring device at Aura Dental Sandy could be a simple, non-invasive solution. During your consultation, we’ll assess your airway, jaw position and medical history to check that a mandibular advancement splint is safe and suitable for you. It may be a good option if you:

  • Snore regularly and feel tired or unrefreshed in the morning

  • Have been diagnosed with mild–moderate obstructive sleep apnoea

  • Struggle to tolerate CPAP or prefer a more discreet alternative

  • Want a removable, travel-friendly solution that doesn’t involve surgery or medication

What is an anti snoring device and how does it work?

An anti snoring device (Sleepwell® mandibular advancement splint) is a custom-made mouthpiece worn at night. It gently holds your lower jaw slightly forward, helping to keep your airway open so the tissues at the back of the throat don’t vibrate. This reduces or stops snoring and can help with mild–moderate obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).

Who is suitable for an anti snoring device?

Our anti snoring device is generally suitable for adults who snore regularly or have been diagnosed with mild–moderate OSA. You’ll need to have a reasonably healthy mouth (teeth and gums) and enough teeth to support the device. At your consultation at Aura Dental Sandy, we’ll assess your snoring history, medical background and oral health to confirm suitability.

Is the anti snoring device comfortable to wear?

Because it’s custom made from impressions or scans of your teeth, the Sleepwell® device is designed to be as comfortable as possible. It may feel a little strange for the first few nights, but most people adapt quickly. The soft lining and ability to close your lips around the device make it much more comfortable than bulky, over-the-counter options.

Will the anti snoring device affect my speech or breathing?

You’ll still be able to breathe through your mouth and nose while wearing the device, and most patients can speak clearly enough for short conversations. The splint is slim and carefully fitted, so once you’re used to it, it shouldn’t significantly affect your breathing or ability to swallow.

How long does an anti snoring device last and how do I look after it?

With good care, a custom anti snoring device can typically last a few years. We recommend:

  • Rinsing it in cool water after each use

  • Brushing it gently with a soft toothbrush (no abrasive toothpaste)

  • Storing it in its protective case during the day

  • Bringing it to your regular dental check-ups at Aura Dental Sandy so we can check the fit and make adjustments if needed.
